Synergein Project

Iván Ferrer Orozco (Mexico City, 1976) is a composer, performer and electronic media assistant. In his work he makes extensive use of electronic media to create music that is a mixture of dynamic and physical forces that flow and expand. Heavily influenced by the use of electronic tools in turntablism, plunderphonics, clubbing, hip-hop, noise and free improvisation, he incorporates resources from those musics and others also important to him (death metal, punk, free jazz, alternative and early progressive rock, funk...), as well as analogue studio techniques in the digital domain to design musical gardens or heterotopias.

In 2021 Iván was awarded by the International Association of Computer Music with the ICMA Award for Best Music 2021. Iván has been artist in residence in several international institutions such as: Akademie der Künste Berlin, Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus, Residencia de Estudiantes, Fundación Camargo, MacDowell Colony, VCCA, Djerassi, Centro de Artes de San Luis Potosí, CMMAS; Hooyong Performing Arts Centre, Park in Progress-ARTos Foundation, Ibermúsicas, I-Portonus, Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Quebec, among others. His music has been widely performed in festivals and concert series in Mexico, Spain, Canada, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, Vietnam, Japan, United States, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Cyprus.

A very active performer specialising in electronic media, he performs as a soloist and collaborates as an assistant with other artists and ensembles in Spain and abroad. In 2019 he was named a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte, a national programme of the Mexican government awarded to outstanding artists of all disciplines. He was a member of the ensemble Neopercusión for eight years, and is currently a member of the electronic media band The Experimental Tooth, Synergein Project and Vertixe Sonora Ensemble.
